Meet the Therapist

KARMEN TUIVAI  MSW, LCSW, RCSW 

AKA "THE COMPASSIONATE THERAPIST"


Hello there. My name is Karmen and I am the owner and a therapist at Magnolia Tree Counseling. I also write a blog about mental health issues under the name "The Compassionate Therapist." I find that when we add some self-compassion into therapy and are kind to ourselves through life's challenges, there can be a sense of peace and healing. I use a strength-based approach and I believe that each person I work with has the ability within themselves to heal, grown and find purpose by looking at what they value most. I am a genuine listener and I will walk along your journey with you.

I am trained in ACT therapy. It is an experiential therapy that is not traditional talk therapy. I also have training in CBT, Trauma-Focused CBT, DBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, and EMDR. I like to use Mindfulness as a basis for our sessions and build on self-compassion exercises to begin healing. My specialty is OCD, Depression. Anxiety, Grief and Loss.

I am a genuine listener. I will give suggestions, use my specific training to point out how to use coping skills to assist you in overcoming your challenges. Together we can work through your pain towards healing and acceptance. I offer a free 15 minute consultation, which you and I can decide if we are a good fit. Give me a call and let's get talk!
